Meat Pirashki

Ingredients for the Dough:

🥖 Dough Ingredients
All-purpose flour – 500 g
Warm milk – 200 g
Yogurt – 100 g
Vegetable oil – 40 g
Salt – 8 g
Sugar – 6 g
Instant dry yeast – 10 g (approximately 1 tablespoon)

🥩 Filling Ingredients

Ground beef – 300 g
Onion – 1 medium, finely chopped
Bell pepper (optional) – ½, diced
Tomato paste – 1 tablespoon
Spices – Salt, black pepper, turmeric, and cinnamon (to taste)
Oil – For sautéing

Instructions – Dough:

1. In a large bowl, mix together flour, yeast, salt, and sugar.

2. Add the warm milk, yogurt, and vegetable oil. Knead until the dough is soft and smooth.

3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.

Instructions – Filling:

1. In a pan, sauté chopped onion in oil until translucent.

2. Add the ground beef and cook until browned.

3. Stir in tomato paste, spices, and bell pepper (if using). Cook until the mixture thickens.

4. Let the filling cool before using.

Shaping & Baking:

1. Divide the risen dough into equal portions and roll each into a ball.

2. Flatten each ball with a rolling pin, place a spoonful of filling in the center, and fold the dough over into a half-moon or desired shape.

3. Press the edges firmly with your fingers or a fork to seal.

4. Place the piroshki on a baking tray, cover, and let them rest for another 15–20 minutes.

5. Brush the tops with beaten egg.

6. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown.
