Herb Bread Recipe (with Fresh Herbs & Optional Cheese)
🧂 Ingredients:
- 500g all-purpose flour
- 250–300ml water (adjust as needed)
- 10g active dry yeast (or instant yeast)
- 10g sugar
- 5g salt
- 10g vegetable oil
- 100g fresh herbs (tarragon, dill, parsley, mint and chives– finely chopped)
- Cheese (optional – feta or mozzarella works well)
- Sesame seeds (for topping, optional)
🥣 Instructions Herb Bread:
- Mix dry ingredients:
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, salt, and chopped herbs. - Add liquids:
Gradually add water and oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms. - Knead the dough:
Knead the dough for about 8–10 minutes by hand or using a mixer until the dough becomes smooth and elastic. - First rise:
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
5. Shape and add cheese (optional):
Divide the dough into equal portions. If. using cheese, place a small piece in the. center of each portion and shape into. round, rolls, or your desired forms.
6. Second rise:
Place shaped dough pieces on a baking. tray lined with parchment paper. Cover. and let them rise again for 20–30 minutes.
7. Bake: Preheat the oven to 180-200°C (350-390°F). Sprinkle sesame seeds on top of the Herb Bread if desired and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
8. Cool and enjoy: Let the herb breads. cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.
✅ Tips:
- Instant yeast can be added directly without proofing.
- These herb breads can also be cooked in a covered skillet or pan on low heat if an oven is not available.
- Store in an airtight container for 2–3 days, or freeze for longer storage.
